Ardrossan

The latest from me and inspired by a photo I had taken of this lighthouse a few years ago. If you have ever headed across to the Isle of Arran on the ferry from Ardrossan then you might recognise this view.

Spring Fling 2016

Above  'Captain' - inspired by our cycling adventure to Nova Scotia last year

Ahoy there!

This year, for the first time, I will be taking part in Spring Fling - 'Scotland's Premier Art and Craft Open Studios Event' in Dumfries and Galloway from 28th-30th May. My studio will be temporarily set up at the National Trust for Scotland property Threave House and Gardens, on the outskirts of Castle Douglas.

Visitors to my Spring Fling Studio can expect to see a selection of my latest work, with some new pieces that haven't been shown before! Thumb through some of my sketchbooks, where most of my inspiration starts and enter a competition to win one of my mounted pieces.

Spring Fling is such a brilliant event and I'm very excited to be apart of it this year.

New Scotland - Nova Scotia

Memories of a great cycling trip to Nova Scotia last year. We followed the coast route and saw many buildings and scenes like this. A fabulous place - loved it.

Location Sketching

I'm really enjoying drawing buildings at the moment and so after a walk at, National Trust for Scotland property, Threave on Sunday afternoon I couldn't resist the urge to draw this one.

It was freezing and was getting dark so it was speedy quick sketching, but I managed to record enough detail to work up my final piece.

Book Jackets

Just for fun. A wee project I'm working on just now, mixing type with my illustrations.

I plan to do a few so pop back from time to time to see new additions to the collection.

Sandyhills to Rockcliffe

I recently enjoyed a lovely walk with friends on a local coastal path we've walked several times before. The views across the Solway to the Lake District are wonderful from this clifftop path. With binoculars at the ready we spotted lots of oystercatchers, gulls, cormorants and a seal!

A lovely walk with lovely people on a calm October weekend - you can't ask for more than that.
